Druid Hills High School English teacher Alyssa Montooth has been nominated for the DeKalb County School System teacher of the year.
She is the Region 2 nominee and will compete against Tanya Arrington of Murphey Candler Elementary, Mario Miner of Stephenson High, Keandria Foreman-Edwards of Clifton Elementary and Bryan Boucher of Dunwoody High.
The Druid Hills High website says Moontooth earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Georgia and a master's in English Renaissance literature at Georgia State University. She started teaching at Druid Hills High in 2005.
The school district says, "Each school selects a Teacher of the Year then a committee of parents, teachers, community members and administrators select the regional winners from that distinguished group. There are five regions in our school district and one teacher has been selected to represent each region."
