AGL is replacing portions of its so-called Eastside Pipeline. It is also building a gas regulator pipeline station directly in DeKalb-Peachtree Airport's flight path, which has some residents worried about potential public safety issues.

Last week's gas leaks in several parts of DeKalb County have heightened neighborwood worries over Atlanta Gas Light's regulator station being built in the Clairmont Road/Tanglewood Circle community.

In a letter to DeKalb Commissioner Jeff Rader, state Rep. Scott Holcomb and other public officials, Lori Muskat, who heads up the Clairmont Community Alliance, wrote, "Residents in the vicinity of the Eastside Pipeline project are very concerned about the occurrence of three major gas leaks within the past five weeks, two of which occurred in different locations yesterday."

She also asked officials to learn why so many leaks have been occurring lately.

In a story first reported here on Patch, AGL is replacing portions of its so-called Eastside Pipeline. It is also building a gas regulator pipeline station directly in DeKalb-Peachtree Airport's flight path, which has some residents worried about potential public safety issues.

Last week, a gas main break occurred near the intersection of North Druid Hills and Briarcliff roads Thursday morning. The break was caused when construction equipment struck the line Wednesday night.

A seperate gas leak also shut down DeKalb Industrial Way near Scott Boulevard during rush hour Wednesday.

And in unincorporated Stone Mountain, the Gwinnett County Fire Department and Atlanta Gas Light crews repaired a leak after a utility contractor struck a service line.
