UPDATE [3:45 p.m.]: The intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and DeKalb Industrial Way has been shut down and will not re-open until Thursday, myfoxatlanta.com reported. Several businesses have also been evacuated until further notice.

FIRST POST [3:10 p.m.]: Several major roads were blocked Wednesday afternoon because of a gas main leak on DeKalb Industrial Way.

Myfoxatlanta.com reported at least 10 businesses on DeKalb Industrial were evacuated.

Wsbradio.com said parts of Scott Boulevard, Church Street and Lawrenceville Highway also were blocked.

Motorists are urged to avoid that area until the roads are unblocked.

DeKalb County alerted motorists early last month that due to the installation of a high-pressure gas line, there may be lane closures and traffic delays through April 20 in the following locations: Katie Kerr Drive, Arcadia and North Arcadia avenues and DeKalb Industrial Way between North Decatur Road and Lawrenceville Highway.

The scope of the project is to install a 24-inch high-pressure gas main that is a portion of the 28-mile section that runs from DeKalb County to Riverdale. This includes milling and asphalt, road boring and landscaping. Lane closures will be in effect at various times and locations around the clock as needed to complete the project as rapidly as possible.
