The Lakeside City Alliance added about $2,000 to its coffers at a Monday night fundraiser in Oak Grove, the alliance's chairman said Tuesday.

Thirty-five people attended the event at Napoleon's restaurant, said Mary Kay Woodworth, alliance chairman, in an email to Patch. The alliance is studying the creation of a new municipality in north DeKalb County that would stretch from North Druid Hills to parts of north Tucker.

Money from the fundraiser will go toward a state-mandated study by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia that will investigate the feasibility of the alliance's proposed city. That study can cost as much as $30,000.

Monday's event was rescheduled from April 2 when it was to be held at Marlow's Tavern in Northlake.

The alliance will next hold an community meeting Thursday in the Carlos Community Center at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
