Carmen Graciaa, director of faith formation, was named Employee of the Year at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School and was honored this month at the archbishop’s education banquet.
Graciaa has been at the school for 16 years, having worked as a teacher’s assistant and a middle school religion teacher. She has been instrumental in developing the school’s many religious and community service programs. In addition to the weekly liturgy, some of her favorite programs include service at the Central Night Shelter and the school’s partnership with DeKalb County’s Margaret Harris Comprehensive School.
She is most known for her untiring work with the Catholic Relief Services Fair Trade program, which markets items such as art, jewelry, coffee, tea and chocolate from developing countries and assures farmers and artisans receive fair wages for their work.
