Senior St. Pius X Thrower Kyle Greer Johnson signed a National Letter of Intent with the Wake Forest University track and field program on Wednesday. A member of the track and field team, Johnson was also a lineman for the Golden Lion football team that finished the 2012 season as AAA state runner-up, completing a 12-3 campaign.
Johnson is ranked in the national top 10 of throwers and is a member of the Throw 1 Deep Club based in Marietta. He is the son of Tony and Karyn Greer-Johnson.
Wake Forest, located in Winston-Salem, N.C., is a charter member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Demon Deacon track and field program boasts several Olympians, including the 2012 London Olympiad participants, four-time Olympian Hunter Kemper in the triathlon and Brent LaRue in the 400-meter hurdles.
