I'm about to enter my own personal sports black hole.
It happens every year at this time, the period between the end of football season and the start of baseball season, when there's absolutely nothing on the sports pages that interests me.
Three (!) professional hockey teams have been ripped away from our city in my lifetime. I've never been a basketball fan. Even if I was, the Atlanta Hawks' owners are the same ones that sold off the Thrashers with not even a goodbye wave, so I'm boycotting them anyway.
So before I enter two long months of sports-page hibernation, I'm going to enjoy Super Bowl XLVII with our annual gathering of friends on Sunday. I'll be making my usual two batches of Super Bowl chili (one with and one without, beans) and watching the game on our brand new, 60-inch hi-def TV (thanks to Patch for helping make this particular acquisition possible).
