Jamison Katz, a second grade student at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School, initiated a plan to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
His plan was to ask each student to give $1. In return, that student would get an out-of-uniform day for participating. Jamison and his mom met with school Principal James Lee to see if the school could implement the plan. Lee agreed, and the school raised more than $880.
The proceeds were given to the Catholic Charities Sandy Relief Fund, which was established to meet the short- and long-term needs of those impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
