The Office of Academics at St. Pius X Catholic High School recently announced several academic accolades for both students and faculty. Included in the achievements were the valedictorian and salutatorian of the senior class as well as the STAR student and teacher.
The valedictorian for the Class of 2013 is David Spratte (Decatur) while the salutatorian is Barbara Anne Kozee (Lawrenceville). In addition to those honors, senior Valeria Rossi (Dunwoody) earned the Excellence in Academic Achievement award, which is given to the transfer student with the highest cumulative grade point average.
St. Pius X also announced its Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program student and teacher. Senior Stephen Landry (Atlanta) was selected as the STAR student while math instructor Gene Brisbane was named the STAR teacher for 2012-13. The STAR program honors Georgia's outstanding high school seniors and the teachers who have been most instrumental in their academic development. During the past 55 years, the STAR Program has honored more than 23,500 high school seniors who have in turn chosen their STAR Teachers to share in this recognition.
