Recent business updates from Gwinnett County and city of Lilburn governments.

DeKalb Workforce Development has solidified plans to relocate to a new facility at 751 DeKalb Industrial Way, Decatur. The agency expects the move to take place late February through early March 2013.

Currently located at 320 Church Street in downtown Decatur, Workforce Development has maximized the functional space needed to efficiently and effectively administer services to its constituents. As the agency expects continued demand for service offerings as well as the need for future initiatives, a unanimous vote by the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners and the DeKalb Workforce Investment Board recently finalized the relocation decision.

Workforce Development’s new facility will be located less than 2.5 miles from its current location. While still accessible by MARTA, the facility will also provide additional dedicated parking spaces compared to what is currently available to visitors and staff. The newly constructed building offers increased square footage, providing greater space in which to hold Workforce Development’s many weekly workshops, orientation sessions and youth program events. The increased space will also allow the agency the option of hosting large-scale job fairs and other recruitment events in-house.

When the move occurs, Workforce Development will close its doors for one week in order to vacate the current building while simultaneously moving into the new facility. The agency will be sure to provide additional information and details, including exact relocation and closure dates, as soon as they become available.
