Christmas Crimes in North Druid Hills-Briarcliff

While many North Druid Hills-Briarcliff residents went out to celebrate Christmas Eve or just stayed in to watch the marathon of "A Christmas Story", others were victims--and perhaps even perpetrators--of crimes. Christmas Day was surprisingly quiet for crimes in the area, according to Crime Mapping, but Christmas Eve was pretty busy.

Christmas Eve burglaries

A nonresidential burglary with forced entry was reported on the 900 block of Valley Brook Road at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Another burglary, this one residential without forced entry, was reported on the 10100 block of Northlake Heights Circle at 4:15 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Picking up last-minute gifts

A case of shoplifting was reported on the 2100 block of Lawrenceville Highway at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Shoplifting was also reported at 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve at the 2000 block of Lawrenceville Highway, though an arrest release is indicated.

At 1:40 a.m. on Christmas Eve, a theft by shoplifting was reported on the 2800 block of North Decatur Road.

Early-morning assault

At 1:20 a.m. on Dec. 26, simple battery was reported on the 2200 block of Parklake Drive.

More car break-ins

On Christmas Eve at 8:30 p.m., entering auto was reported on the 700 block of DeKalb Industrial Way.

A car was stolen from the 2700 block of North Druid Hills Road at 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

In the Briarcliff area, which has recently seen a rash of car break-ins, a case of entering auto happened at 2 p.m. Christmas Eve on the 2100 block of Briarcliff Road. On that same day, at 4 p.m. on the 1700 block of the same road, another case of entering auto happened.
