Thirteen traffic deaths were reported over the 102-hour Christmas holiday travel period began Friday at 6 p.m. up to noon on Tuesday, Christmas Day, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
There have been 595 crashes with 241 injuries and 8 deaths investigated by the Georgia State Patrol (GSP). Other agencies have reported five traffic fatalities, including a fatal two-car collision in Smyrna just before midnight on Monday that claimed the life of a Marietta woman.
The fatalities count is much higher than in 2011 already, when three traffic deaths were reported. In 2011 there were 1,898 accidents with 693 injuries reported by all agencies.
Fatalities have been reported in the following jurisdictions during the 2012 Christmas holiday travel period:

- Newman Police

The travel period ended at midnight Tuesday.
