Dr. Joseph Tate of Toco Hill has been nominated for The Real Awards, a program designed to highlight health workers across the United States.
Tate, who works as an OB/GYN in Norcross, was nominated for the award by local resident Blair Glass. Here is what Glass had to say about Tate on the awards' site:
Dr. Tate inspires me because he is a dedicated physician who believes in a woman's ability to birth. He is both incredibly skilled and extremely intuitive. He innately understands when to use medical intervention to improve outcomes but that too much intervention can be harmful. I had an 11 lb baby under his care last month and would not want to birth with any other provider.
You have to sign in with Facebook to vote, and the voting window extends through Jan. 7. The winners will be announced Jan. 15.
The awards series in primarily sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, among other groups.
We've mentioned Tate on North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch before in his role as president of Eruv of Atlanta Inc., which runs North Druid Hills eruv. What's an eruv? Read this story (and learn a little bit about what Tate has done here):
