Decatur police have filed charges against a 20-year-old man in the armed robbery of the Marathon Gas Station at 527 E. College Ave.
A clerk told police a regular customer entered the store about 9:15 p.m. Nov. 26 and asked for a pack of ciagrellos. The clerk reached for the product and when he turned around the man held a small black pistol with a laser sight pointed at the clerk's face.
The clerk said the man said, "Give me all your money before I kill you."
The clerk emptied the cash register drawer and the man left on foot traveling south on Columbia Drive.
The clerk estimated $300 in small bills was taken. The clerk told police he'd recognize the robber because he comes in often to buy cigarellos.
On Nov. 28, police obtained an armed robbery warrant against Santonio M. Spratlin, 20, of the 500 block of South Columbia Drive. Spratlin is now in the DeKalb County Jail.
