A local gas station employee was robbed at gunpoint as he was dropping off checks and cash at a credit union near North DeKalb Mall on Wednesday afternoon, DeKalb County police said.
The 30-year-old man parked his car behind Platinum Federal Credit Union at 1059 Mistletoe Rd. and was planning to drop off checks and about $2,500 in cash from a North Druid Hills-area gas station at about 12:40pm, the police report said.
He was walking toward the bank when one of the suspects ran from behind him and forced him to the ground. The man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at him.
"Give me the bag, give me the bag," the suspect said.
The victim handed over the back containing the checks and cash, and the suspect and another suspect jumped a nearby fence and ran east toward the rear of the McDonald's restaurant, the report said.
A responding officer alerated nearby police, and a helicopter was called to the scene. A search of the area turned up nothing, however.
