Got this thanks to the Clairmont Heights Civic Association. Dave Butler, DeKalb County's greenspace environment manager and a local resident, is running a joint project with the Atlanta Botanical Garden to restore native plants to a section of Mason Mill Park. He's looking for volunteers, preferably with tools.
From the association's post:
It’s finally time to plant. We’ve removed most of the invasive plants on the slope at Mason Mill so we have scheduled the first planting date for Saturday December 15. Expecting cold weather, we will start at 10 AM and finish up around noon. Please bring shovels and/or hand trowels for planting, but we will provide tools for those without them. We will be at the usual location along the boardwalk within Mason Mill Park. Take the trail from the intersection of Willivee Drive and Scott Circle into the park, and the restoration area is just past the steel bridge that crosses South Fork Peachtree Creek. We’re working on signage for the restoration project that will be installed on or next to the boardwalk. The signs may be ready by the workday.
Thanks,
Dave
