This Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. until noon, there will be a "Give-An-Hour" workday at Johns' Homestead Nature Preserve Park to help revitalize the home and surrounding property.

The address is 3071 Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker, near the Rehoboth Baptist Church, where parking is available.

This clean-up is a joint venture between Friends of Johns' Homestead, DeKalb County, Tucker Civic Association, and the Tucker Historical Society. This will be the first of many workdays to help restore the 50-acre nature preserve area and the homestead itself.

Bring your hammers, work gloves and prybars to work on the house, and your shovels, rakes and hedge shears for landscaping. Please wear closed-toed shoes, long-sleeves and pants. Bottled water and light snacks will be provided.

Please tell friends and Tucker neighbors who may want to help make improvements to this historic property. The Johns' family built the first house in 1827 and lived and farmed the land until the 1980s. It is considered the oldest residential structure in Tucker.

Email us at parks@tuckercivic.org if you have any questions and feel free to join our Facebook group

Thank you for your support of Johns' Homestead and we look forward to working on this Tucker community project together!
