Driving down North Druid Hills Road this week, I noticed a new billboard standing above Grand Slam Golf & Baseball.
It reads, "Rediscover North DeKalb Mall" (or something to that effect). It's clear they're trying to lure people back. It got me to wondering: Do people in our community still shop there? The parking lots often seem relatively empty, but I've purchased a few things there. I get my fitted baseball caps from Foot Locker, and I've purchased a few shirts and pairs of pants from Burlington Coat Factory. Nothing else, really.
But save for holiday shopping, the place does seem to carry an echo most of the time. Ideally, with Northlake Mall to our north, the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area should be an ideal place for shopping, but I suspect that, for many, it isn't based on what I read and what I hear from people.
