More than two days after the two explosions near the finish line at the Boston Marathon killed three people at injured more than 170, the investigation there continues as so many questions remain unanswered.
The events in Boston have set many in other cities on edge, including here in metro Atlanta.
The Atlanta Track Club, organizers of the 55,000 participant AJC Peachtree Road Race each Fourth of July, issued a statement following the tragedy saying the “safety at each of our Atlanta Track Club events is our top priority.”
The attacks led to heightened security at MARTA stations. A blast Tuesday at a thrift store on Memorial Drive led to a massive reaction from Atlanta police and fire departments. (Officials said later it was an old package of fireworks and not a bomb.) And on Wednesday, a report of a suspicious package - which turned out to be a box of guidebooks - led to the closing of a major intersection in Buckhead.
