Currently, there are more than 2,164 individuals and families that make up metro Atlanta’s unsheltered homeless.
The Salvation Army Metro Atlanta Command, in partnership with other Atlanta homeless service providers, is hosting Project Homeless Connect, a one-day resource event April 10 where homeless individuals and families will have free access to a variety of services from medical and dental to veterans services to haircuts. The event will be held from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at The Salvation Army Temple Corps at 2090 North Druid Hills Road, Atlanta.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our community agencies to work together to improve people’s lives," said Maj. Todd Hawks, area commander for the Metro Atlanta Salvation Army. “Solving homelessness begins with making the basic needs and services accessible."
It is anticipated that between 500 and 1,000 people will be served. In addition to homeless service providers, the event also includes food and beverages, distribution of clothing and blankets and activities for children.
