A placeholder cityhood bill was filed on behalf of Tucker in the state legislature Tuesday by state Reps. Billy Mitchell, Michele Henson and "Coach" Williams.

House bill 677 [see PDF at right] provides time for thoughtful discussions on the potential for Tucker to incorporate as a city. As a placeholder bill, it could not be considered by the General Assembly until next year. Until that time, cityhood advocates and residents could continue a debate over the merits of cityhood. A state-mandated feasibility study by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia would also be required.

All three representatives are Democrats. Mitchell represents District 88 from Stone Mountain, Henson represents District 86 also from Stone Mountain and Williams represents District 87 from Avondale Estates.
